Go here:

And listen to or download the Tamar Yohah radio show called, "The Enemies Within?". It is an AMAZING eye opener. Here is the promo on the site:

Dr. Francisco Gil-White was fired from his university position because of his research on America's foreign policies. The things he discovered turned him from a supporter of the Arabs to that of the Jews. He speaks to Tamar about the absorption of Nazi scientists and intel to America after WWII, and how it has steered its foreign policy, which has been detrimental to Israel and the Jewish People. Also, his discovery of the documented Nazi roots of the PLO, which he says is just a continuation of the 'Final Solution' to murder the Jews.

Von Switchboard!

Yes, Aaron, it was my influence that got you played on VPR...i was perhaps the only one in Vermont who voted for you. VOR had sent several local bands around the area a survey last month. The bands in turn, sent it to their fans asking for a vote for the annual Switchboard Music show 2006.
I voted for you and I see they played a song from "RULES"! I also voted for Middlebury's OhAnleigh, world fusion duo 35th Parallel, and, dare I say it, three independent POLKA bands....yeah, that's right....POLKA. The Garbonzos from Minnesota, the Keilbasa Kings from Michigan, and finally, Big Lou's Polka Casserole from California. All three bands are on

I am realyl glad I work in College radio because I get to hear so many different and wonderful groups whom would probabyl not hear if the internet were not the tremendous resource it is today. I certainly wouldn't have found you and your "schtick"!

one more thing, I may have misspelled OhAnleigh when I was trying to direct you guys to their website:

Hey Jimmy, what gives?

Accusing Israel of apartheid is like accusing America of apartheid because of the wall we are planning on building on our border with Mexico. Actually, it is worse than that, because the Mexicans aren't coming over here and killing Americans! They aren't walking into pizza parlors and discos and school buses and blowing themselves up, trying to hurt and maim and kill as many Americans as they can. How long would America put up with THAT?!

So Carter has shown himself to be a pro Arab partisan. He insults Israel for doing what any country would do if its citizens were getting blown to bits day after day! He is a disgrace and an anti-Semite, because he knows full well that if Israel were to dismantle the policies it has adopted to separate its citizens from Palestinian terrorists, Jews would be dying again week after week.

So to Jimmy Carter I say, you should be ashamed of yourself!

And thank God you are no longer president and never will be!

And why don't YOU drive around Gaza without protection if you are so critical of Israel?

Coward!! I feel better.

There are a few recordings out there now of Minsky cello works. You can do searches of my titles, but here are some links:

Ten American Cello Etudes:

Judaic Concert Suite:

I am talking with Oxford now about coming out with my own versions of some of my books, but that is for the future.

Re: Minsky in China!

The guy looks like Al Gore...anybody with me on this?

In other news, Aaron - it's great to see your classical material being played world-wide. You might just make it big!
On another note, I was wondering if you knew of any recrdings of your Ten Amercan Cello Etudes, or your Judaic Concert Suite that I could look into for my show?
Once your "Dead Cello Suites" are off the ground, will they be recorded?

On another, another note: This comming Friday, the 22nd, I will once again be interviewing Middlebury, Vermont's own Celtic group O'hAnleigh on the air. We will play several tracks from their album lvie, as well as give you some favorite Christmas carols Celtic style....I used "we" because I'm going to playing with them on percussion, and possibly jaw harp if they don't think that's too weird.
Tune in Friday, Dec 22nd at 5:00pm E.S.T at to hear my second interview with O'hAnleigh. Sure to be fun for all!

Anorexics for Cheese Cake

Jews for Jesus is a name that is provocative, but it is not entirely weird. After all, the origninal followers of Jesus were all Jews. Some think he was the first Reform rabbi. But, I guess once his followers crossed the line and started worshiping him, they were no longer followers of Judaism, which says that God is unseeable and unknowable and shares the stage with no one.

Islam is a semitic back lash against Christianity. The Koran says that Jesus is a prophet, but "God forbid that he is God. There is no God but God", or "There is no God, but Allah". The Muslims actually play an intersting game. They say to the Christians, "We are not like those Jews who reject Jesus. We accept him as a prophet. And Mohammed is the greatest prophet". Pretty slick, no? This way they try to create an alliance with the Christians against the Jews, with the hope of winning them over.

Then came another group called the Ba'hi. They have a big temple in Haifa, Israel. They say that Jesus and Mohammed were prophets but Ba'hi was the greatest and final prophet. Actually, Ba'hi rejected the violence of Mohammed, so maybe the Ba'hi are onto something. But, from the Jewish perspective, why did you need ANY of these other prophets? The Torah said Moses was the greatest prophet and "no one ever rose again like Moses".

The whole point of the Torah is that God gave the Jews His book, and made them His messengers to spread His word among the nations. The nations, though they were not to be the messenger, were still His children. So, a Jew asks, "What is the need to have new testaments? We already have His word." So, in order for Christians to justify the need for new covenant, they chose to say that the covenant that God made with the Jews had somehow become null and void, and God made a new covenant with the followers of Jesus. Then the Muslims said, "Yes, but now there is a new, new covenant with the followers of Mohammed". Jews see both groups, Christians and Muslims as rebels against God's law, the Torah. The Torah speaks of an "everlasting covenent" with Israel, so how could God contradict Himself and still be viewed as honest, and loving?

So now, some Christians are dealing with this and, in effect, becoming Christians for Moses! They don't want to give up their allegience to Jesus, but they do want to get in line with God. So they become Christian Zionists. It's definitely a new twist...or perhaps the beginning of what should have been all along!

I've always been a weenie roast man myself. Give me a Hebrew National and a fire and I'm cookin'!

Religion I guess is always a reflection of the culture. So, of course, in America religion becomes another money making proposition. (Not that it wasn't in other countries too.) But now we have the "gospel of wealth", where you can pray to Jesus for wealth. "After all, God wants you to be happy!" Can I hear a hallelujah?"

They say that interest in religion is growing in the U.S., just as its declining in Europe. That is interesting. One trend that I find fascinating is the rise of the Christian Zionist. They showed on TV last night, churches where Christians have a "Sabbath celebration" or an "Israel night" and the congregants wear Yarmulkas, and tallises, and dance to Jewish songs like Hava Negilah. One church had a blue grass band that combined Hava Negila with blue grass!

The reporter made the point that many of these people support Israel now, but they believe that when Jesus comes back, the Jews will either covert or be "left behind" with the rest of the sinners. He then interviewed and Israeli leader about this. And the guy said, "Well, we'll see what happens then, but right now we are very happy for their support!"

"What do you get when you mix a Mormon with an atheist? Someone who knocks on your door but has nothing to say!"

I heard a similar joke once maid by a bunch of Irish-American, Catholic, musicians:

"What do you get when you cross a Unitarian with a Jehova's Witness? Someone who knocks on your door at 7:30 in the morning but doesn't know why".

The joke's not that funny to me, per se, but I think the idea that someone has to come to your door, and ask you face to face if you belive in God, is....isn't that why we the faithful worship together at Church or in the synagogue? (Sorry If I misspelled that).
I mean, we don't need to lean over and whisper to anyone during mass and say "oh yeah, and by the way, I believe in God just so's ya know". We Catholics are affiming our faith through action: just by attending mass, saying the prayers, partaking in the Eucharist and singing the psalms. After mass we affirm our fatih through charity.

It amazes me how far certain Christian sects have gone to bring faith into everyday, ordinary life outside of the church.

Down on Church Street in Burlington, we have a famous "Hot Dog" lady who sells them from a cart. She's of some Christian denomination which escapes me at the moment, but she's definately not Catholic. Aside from cooking the best hot-dogs this side of Vermont for several years, she also used to have a booth at the Champlain Valley Fair in Essex, VT every summer where she would hand out those boring old "Faith in Christ" cards. Some would say things like "Faith in Christ Can Help You Solve Personal and Family Challenges". On the the back there would be a toll free number I could call to order a video and/or probably donate a large sum of money to whomever was peddeling out this lucrative blob of holy nothing. I always got suckered into staying at this booth for way longer then I needed to be....I guess I was hoping she'd give me a free hot dog with mustard and onions!

BTW...for something randomn, grilling your hot dogs is the only way to go. My mother cooks hot-dogs in a pan with butter and you would not belive the smell that produces!

to kill ,first mock him bird

the demonizing of others religions goes back centuries. i think its a stepin dehumanizing a people so as to destroy them, take their land money resourses or just get the out of the competitive way.In every war ever, each side depicted the other as cockaroachlike diabolical, assassins godless est. Nobody attacks a nice attractive enemy. I think one should see beyond the rhetoric and ask exactly what is happening here. Jews were only recently painted as ecil godless wanting to bankrupt every nonjew around.wanting to starve and thus kill others. We were on the receiving end. Now its arabs chinese etc. No farmboy goes to war to kill a goodlooking god loving honest person. How much is real? or invented to start the saber rattling? to get lil jim from nebraska to join up and go off and kill hasan or lil hans to kill moshe or moshe to kill rafat.....

Knock Knock

I can't believe the Mormons knocked on your door! What do you get when you mix a Mormon with an atheist? Someone who knocks on your door but has nothing to say!

They once knocked on my door when I was in college in Ithaca. I invited them in and they gave me their whole pitch, and then I asked, "Why did you become a Mormon?" And they basically said that their parents were Mormons and they weren't really into it when they were young but when they grew up it made sense to them so they became Mormons like their parents. So I said, "That's funny the same thing happened to me. My parents are Jewish, and when I was young I wasn't really into it, but when I got older it made sense to me, so now I'm Jewish". They looked at me with blank expressions and said, "Well I guess we better get going now", and they left!

It's funny, but the way Christians feel about the Mormons is the way many Jews feel about the Christians. Christians say, "Why can't they just believe in Jesus without all the John Smith stuff?". And Jews say, "Why can't they just believe in God without all the Jesus stuff?"

I guess no one likes to see their religion altered by those who come later. Look at the Greeks. When the whole Western world took on the Roman alphabet, they kept the Greek alphabet. They even have their own version of Christianity, Greek Orthodox! And then people wonder why the Jews do the same!

Now, the Jews and the Christians are not happy about the changes the Arabians made, creating Islam. But the thing that really gets me is when the Muslims say, "If you make fun of our leader we will kill you". That, right there, should show anybody who truly believes in freedom that Islam is not cool. Hey, if they want to change that rule, and a few others, then okay. But until then...turn off the Cat Stevens and put on some Joni Mitchell!

So how can a follower of Jesus excuse the murderous outbursts of a follower of Mohammed?

Woah, I think you have me all wrong, Aaron. I'm sorry if I gave you the wrong impression. Cat Stevens never went as far to make an attempt on Salmon Rushdie's life, (I dont think that's the case anyway), and I am not suggesting murder as a responce to falsehood...I would never do that. I would never do such a thing if someone spoke falsly of my Catholic beliefs....though I was about ready to go postal the other night when some representatives from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints came to my door. They asked me if I belived in God and if Jesus was my Lord and savior, which they are, but then they asked if I belived some guy living today named William Hinkly was a prophet, as they believe. They also belived Joseph Smith, who was one of the founders of the Mormons, was a prophet; who actually spoke to God and was given a reply. "Listen you guys....", I thought, "I basically belive what you do except for that William Hinkley/Joseph Smith razz-a-ma-tazz". The Pope is the physical head of my Church here on Earth". They asked if I would pray to God (which I do anyway) to see if what they were telling me is right, and then they asked if I would call the number on a little card and tell them God told me they were right. Man, I'll tell ya....religion has gotten way too lucrative, not to mention gullible for it's own good. The plus side is thought, that they introduced themselves to me with cool of them was named something like "Ezrakya" or something....he said it means "messenger", or somthing like that.

But back to the point I was trying to make, I too have heard of Iran's dissmissal of the Holocaust and I think it is, and will be, one of the most dispicable things that the goverment of a world power did in 2006....I mean, half the stuff that Bush has put the US through is nothng compared to the seriousness of this. To just say that the mass slaughter of 6 million people, and several hundreds of others never happened is completely dehumanizes all the lives that were lost in those concentration camps and I am against it. Catholics and blacks suffered oppression in these camps too. Now just look at all of those mass graves in Cambodia, Sudan, and other war-torn parts of the world. Is Iran, or are other countries, going to deny that those killings never took place as well? Those skeletons used to be living, breathing, human beings too with a livelihood and some form of belief system. It would be a greivous dis-honor to their memories to dismiss such chaos and I support you, Aaron. I'm on your side all the way for this one.

The cat in the hat

Hey, no one was a bigger Cat Stevens fan than I. I learned how to play all his songs from his first few albums. I even performed them at coffee houses in Brooklyn in my teens. I loved his spirituality in songs like Miles From Nowhere. I loved the way he stood up for indigeonous peoples in Longer Boats. I loved Wild World and Father and Son. I even got to see him live in Avery Fischer Hall, sitting very close to the stage. In my early days as a musician, I thought I might become the next Cat Stevens myself. (But the job was already taken.)

But I have to say, I am not a fan of Yusef Islam. For one thing how can I possibly think well of someone who raises money for Hamas? Even the U.S. government and the E.U. considers Hamas a terrorist group. That is why Yusef is not allowed to enter the U.S. Their charter is full of sentences right out of Hitler's propaganda. They actually have in their charter their belief that the Jews have a worldwide conspiracy to take over the world, and are behind all of the world wars and most of the problems in the world. They announce as their goal the destruction of Israel and the killing of Jews! Here is a quote from article 7 of the Hamas Charter:

"The Day of Judgement will not come about until Moslems fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Moslems, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him. Only the Gharkad tree, would not do that because it is one of the trees of the Jews." (related by al-Bukhari and Moslem).

This is the group that Yusef raises money for. And you defend him?

They have also killed many innocent people, including Americans. So being into Yusef is like being into a Bin Laden supporter, assuming he came out with an album. I mean, if Yusef, or some other Muslim, came out saying that he was glad all those Americans were killed on 9/11, and he raised money for Al Qaeda, would you make excuses for him too, just because you like his music?

And as to your other you know that over the past few days there has been a conference in Iran to deny that the Holocaust? It has been condemned by our government, Germany, the Vatican, and many others. What could be more vile than denying the murder of six million innocent Jews and twelve million innocent others? So, because they are having this conference, does that mean I should kill the participants? Even if they had a conference insulting the Torah, so what? What am I supposed to do? Kill them?

I'm really suprised to hear a Christian stand up for the concept of killing people who insult others. If someone insulted Jesus, would you say he should be killed? Do you think Jesus would approve of that? If Jesus was really God, he could have killed anyone who even looked at him the wrong way, yet he allowed himself to be cruxified! So how can a follower of Jesus excuse the murderous outbursts of a follower of Mohammed?

Are you allergic to Cat?

Sure, Yusuf Islam made Rushdie's life a living hell, there's no denying that. But the Koran is considered the Word of God to the Muslims of course, just as the Torah is to Jews, and the New Testament is just as significant to Catholics and Christians. How would you and Jews around the world feel, or what would you do if someone spoke wrongly of the Torah? Cat Stevens loved the relgion he had adopted, he thought he has finally found something that made im whole, and so Rushdie had angered him.....true, maybe Cat did take that anger a it too far, but how can you bash the Word of God and not expect any decent person to ignore it?
I guess I'm defending Cat Stevens mainly becuase I'm a fan of his music, not becuase I can relate to his spiritual life. I mean, who else is going to write a song on the same level as "Wild World", or "Peace Train"? Von Cello may just come close, but Yusuf Islam will always be Cat Stevens to me.
