Oye Como Va, mi ritmo!

I thought that ritmo was rhythm.

Is there another word for beat? What about tiempo? How would you say "drum beat"?

And which sounds better to you:

Tiempo Del Caribe

Ritmo Del Caribe

Do I need to use the word Del?

Aliyoup

I know, but I wanted to make sure my use of the pronoun was correct. What is the difference between "anu" and "anachnu"?

Also, how would you say, "Caribbean Beat" in Spanish?

Peace Piece

Not a bad idea. First I would need a digital video camera. I should be buying a new computer by the summer, so that will have a video cam attached. At that point I'll probably start putting more video stuff up. Right now Perry Seigle...do you remember him?...is working on editing some more video of the two of us. When he finishes I will put up at least another two cuts on You Tube.

I am still putting the finishing touches on my new piece. I am thinking of calling it "Anu Ya'aseh Shalom". Do you know what that means?

A Piece Is Born!

I did it! I came up with a new cello piece using long tones. It combines a spiritual synagogue melody with dissonant sounds. It is definitely different than other things that I have written and will make a good contribution to "Ten International Cello Encores".

Hurray!

Changing the world...one cello piece at a time

No success yet. I spent hours yesterday trying to come up with a new cello piece. Sure, I could write a hundred cello pieces, but I am trying to do something new and innovative, yet also musical. That is much harder.

I concentrated on long tones. I'm trying to express the idea of peace, or the hope of peace, or the frustration of there not being peace. But so far...no piece!

Aaron Minsky - Composer

I am a man of many hats. But these days, who isn't?

Today I am putting on my composer's cap...as opposed to the "thinking cap" my teachers in P.S. 276 used to tell me to put on.

I am going to attempt the composing of a new cello piece to add to my collection, "Ten International Cello Encores". I say "attempt", because I work on inspiration, and you can't always count on a visit from the muse.

I'll let you know if I have any success.

flavor of the month Irakenberry

They want perennial low grade war so that they can tighten their control on their true enemy: their own citizens.....Ice cream is control...After 9 11 prices went down to keep the masses happy. Ice cream, availability is a weapon used by rich to control their people. Just before bush entered iraq, ben and jerry released 2 new flavors and a 2 for 1 sale. THen BOOOM! into iraq we went and any anti war folk were fed ice cream-----as they watched the war on cnn..Pan and circus? no my friend!

Perennial War?

I just heard a show putting forth the idea that the reason the U.S. does not win in the "War on Terror" is that it is not the desire of the "ruling elites" to win. They want perennial low grade war so that they can tighten their control on their true enemy: their own citizens.

I don't know how much proof there is for this theory, but it does explain why the west seems so powerless to defeat the Jihadists. On the other hand, it could be that the Jihadists are a tough enemy to beat.

Hmmm...

Lookin High and Low

That headline is the title of one of the new Von Cello songs for the next CD. I have looked up some old girlfriends on the internet but have not seen any mention of them! I guess not everyone is on the internet. Heck, when I first got on the internet and did a search on Aaron Minsky I found a handful of pages. Now there are thousands!

Don't crush me!

I don't have a crush on her. She was a friend from Canarsie, so naturally I'd be curious to see where she is now. At the end of high school we played cello sonatas together. It was my first experience playing classical music with someone outside of school orchestra. Of course, we became friends as we had a lot in common at that time. But then I went off to college in Boston and I didn't see her again until we both ended up at Manhattan School of Music. We never "hung out" but were always happy to see each other. After we graduated we totally lost touch. I heard she married a psychiatrist and became a piano teacher in New Jersey. But after that...who knows?
