No Soap Radio?

What is this, some kind of joke?

I think in this case U.F.O would stand for "Un-Funny Object".

On a totally un-related note, what's happening with "Celtar" these days? Is it almost finished?

Not of this world.......

Von Cello wrote (summerizing an article):

"Some of these people were X rayed and were found to have small pieces of metal insertec in their bodies. These tiny fragments emitted radio waves, but when they were removed, stopped. They were made of metals not of this world".

Unidentified Little Green Men

Have you seen the History Channel lately? This weekend they had show after show about UFO's. If what they are saying is to be believed, there is much, and I mean much, evidence of UFO's. They have tapes of professional pilots talking to the tower about UFO's trailing them. They have recordings of submarine commanders talking about USO's trailing them. They have been followed by vessels that are in deeper water than we are able to enter. There are even recordings of the astronaunts talking about "bogeys" following the spacecrafts. Even when the men walked on the moon, they saw lights above them from vehicles that appeared to be observing them.

Christopher Columbus' logs had mentions of strange lights under the sea that were following them. And even in Egyptian heirogliphics (sp?) there are symbols that look like flying saucers.

But there's more. There have been sites where UFO's supposedly crashed where they have found fragments of metals that have the same composition of metals on Mars. There have been people who claimed they say UFO's close up, who then went home and found that more time elapsed then they thought. Some of these people were X rayed and were found to have small pieces of metal insertec in their bodies. These tiny fragments emitted radio waves, but when they were removed, stopped. They were made of metals not of this world.

The shows claim that governments around the world are hiding this from the public. But sometimes a story leaks out in the press. Then some Air Force captain or someone comes forward to say it was an air balloon, or something. But airballoons don't follow airplanes, and don't travel at speeds beyond what airplanes travel. They also don't have strange greenish lights that sparkle.

Meanwhile some ex military men have come forward, some scientists have come forward, some government officials have come forward. When you really look at the evidence, assuming these shows are not total fantasy, it is very convincing.

Middle-American themed wines - ha!

"Customer surveys were conducted to determine the most attractive name for the Wal-Mart wine brand".

In honor of the Champions of Super Bowl 42, Walmart will now be selling red-and-blue colored rattan-wrapped bottles of "Gianti".

....Or "Brooklynbridge by Redneck Mondavi".

UFO's and the dating game

From UFO's to dating...what a weird post!

Edward wrote: "So, pray tell, what's your definition of "ready" and "effort" in the context? what does "being ready" entail?"

That is hard to define. I thought I was ready many times, but looking back I guess I wasn't. Ready means that you learned some lessons, some that you wanted to learn and some that you didn't, but it made you older and wiser. I heard Sinatra singing a song with lyrics about a woman who he loved who left him. The lyric said something like, "I don't blame my heart, I blame my youth". So, time is part of it. The other thing is a certain seriousness. Look at the Democrats. In 2004 they put up a weak candidate against Bush. He was attacked but didn't respond. He allowed Bush to run all over him. But this time the Dems are serious. They smell blood. Now they will probably win.

Effort is also hard, because I have found that many women like a bad boy. So opening up doors and treating them special may not be the best definition of effort. Effort to me is not so much what you do but what you think. You have to try to understand women. I think you have to try to date. Maybe place or answer ads. Maybe go to singles dances or discussion groups. Put yourself out there.

The other thing is, don't act desperate. Women, and I think men too, like to feel that they have to do a little bit of work to get something valuable. So, my idea is that you have to "be there" and then "be cool". It seems that women come when you don't really need them. When they know you are dying for them, they keep away. It's like when you walk down the street with a pretty woman...all of a sudden all the other pretty women are checking you out. Now they can't have you so easily, so all of a sudden you are interesting. The question becomes, "Why does SHE have him?" It's like a weird game.

I had a girlfriend once who said, "I hate all these games. Why does dating have to be a game?" I responded, "So you play the 'I hate all these games' game!"

It came from the depths of Canarsie......

The other day one of my fellow theater cast member told e hea hear don the radio that that they've discovered a second "Bermuda Triangle" eminating from the Empire state Biulding...he asaid it was something to do with the radio signals eminating from the top of the buildings antennas that was making commuter's cars perform poorly....can't remember all of the details here but your talk of UFO's reminded me about my friend's gossip.

And on the subject of dating, perhaps you could fill me in here Aaron:

You wrote:

So, pray tell, what's your definition of "ready" and "effort" in the context? what does "being ready" entail?

I open up doors for women all the time, I always say "excuse me" or "pardon me", I mind my manners while eating around women (not that I don't mind my manners eating around everyone); I basically try to make women feel important, becuase they are. If it wasn't for women, none of us would exist...and I agree with mom when she says that if women were able to run more of the world there would be less war, crime, polution, noise...etc...I do consider myself a femininst amoung other things.
I'm voting for Obama in the race for the White House, but if he backs out before the Vermont Primary in March, then my vote will definately go to Clinton. I thinkit's time for either a person of color or a woman to lead, and ring change, to this great country of ours. Hillary's got some real sense, smarts and morals.

Now as to UFO's...If extra-terrestrials are following America's election coverage, and in a bizarre turn of events they were given voting rights, who do you think they'd vote for? Personaly, I predict it'd be a "write-in" for Tom Cruise.

Very Euro.

If I remember her father was Don Cherry, a jazz trumpeter.

Last night I played for that Viennese Opera Ball that I do every year. The MC was Chuck Scarborough of local news fame. Also on board were Carol Alt and one Baldwin brother whose name escapes me (both currently on Celebrity Apprentice with Donald Trump). In addition we had Miss Universe and Miss Teen USA. I think those are owned by Trump. The band I played with, the Peter Duchin Band, flew to Florida today to play for Trump tonight at Mara Lago, his Florida mansion. I'll be back in Manhattan playing for some other society party tonight. aint rock n' roll, but its got its perks.

That is weird! Leave it to Canarsie to figure out everything strange and otherworldly.

Speaking about otherworldly...I just watched a show about USO's. Do you know about them? Unidentified Submerged Objects! Yes, they are UFO's of the sea!

Did you know as early as in the logs of Christopher Columbus there are accounts of bright lights deep below the waters? There are also many recent eyewitness accounts of objects from under the sea coming out of the ocean and quickly disappearing into space. Holy flying submarines Batman!!

Anyway, finding the right girl is like finding a USO. You can look and look, but she will not appear until the time is right. As I wrote in a song, "She's all around, but can never be found. You can only wait for her."

I think a lot of it has to do with being ready. If you are really ready and you combine that with putting out the right kind of effort, you can usually find what you are looking for. This is true about almost everything in life. Of course, nothing is perfect and what you get is often a little different than what you expected, but I suppose that's also one of the great things about life. It does not do what you want, but you can learn how to play along with what it gives.

Tattoo voodoo

Personally, I don't have a tatoo, (nor do I want one), but I do like to wear Celtic cross pendants, I have a growing collection of them at home. I also love to wear an Irish-made tweed cap from County Donegal for commuting out and about, complete with a pair of ear-muffs for the winter months.
One of my friends from college has a small green and black tattoo of a triskell (an ancient Celtic, three-tiered symbol representing fertility) on the top of her right foot.
I've seen those lower-back tatoos and I have to say I like them on a woman. I also like belly button rings, but they don't work for every woman, trust me...I like to eat outside on Chruch street, Burlington in the summertime, and I see alot of young woman wearing belly button rings......some are better then others, trust me.

These things are good, but I ultimately look for personality. If a young woman is superficial and is lacking "character" then I'm not so attracted to her. I think personality should be number one on anybody's list who's "playing the field" as they say. But of course I'm certainly no Dr. Phil when it comes to love and romance. I just know that somewhere out there there's a girl for me, and I'll probably find her when and where I least expect it. Of course, as Tom Petty once said "The waiting is the hardest part".

Belly Button Ring

For some reason the guy who is making the video picked this song. I guess it was because there is something sexy about it. It is a tango with a rock feel. The lyrics are about and encounter with a girl wearing a belly button ring.

I like to write songs about contemporary things that everyone knows but maybe haven't thought much about. I mean, when we were kids no one wore a belly button ring...except maybe a belly dancer. Now, there are millions of young girls out there wearing them. At least there were. I don't know how popular they still are.

It's funny how these styles come and go. I pity all the girls with those large lower back tatoos when those go out of style. Ouch!

Video Killed the Radio Star

Okay, you figured out how to put pictures in the guestbook. Cool.

This weekend I did some more acting before the camera for the new Von Cello video of "Belly Button Ring". That is a tune off the new CD.

It is an interesting process. At first I was kind of stiff, but now that we did a second shoot I felt a lot more comfortable. I used to act a lot when I was a kid and my parents had a local theater company. I easily could have become an actor but decided to become a musician. Little did I know back then that video would kill the radio star!

Bin Laden is Dead

Speaking about Bin Laden...boy, you sure don't hear about him much these days. Hmmm...

Did you catch that video of Benazir Bhutto saying that he was murdered by the Pakistani secret police? Just do a search and you will find it. Quite amazing indeed! Not only because she said it, but the way the media has so thoroughly suppressed it. Can you imagine that Bin Laden is dead and the world leaders know it, but are hiding it from the world. It's either that or Bhutto lied or was misinformed. But if that was the case, then why haven't we heard about how that?

What did the movie say about Bin Laden?

As for going around the corporations, that's what I have been doing, but it is hard to make much money as an indie. Nevertheless, I intend to put out a lot more product over the next few years. I also now own I plan to get that going with my classical music and other non-Von kind of stuff.

I also would like to make some videos where I just talk about things...maybe religion and know, nice, easy, uncontroversial type things.

Remember when you first heard...

One of the amazing properties of music is how it can transport you to a certain place and time. Here you are about 30 years later being reminded by some notes of music of Florida when you were around 20. And it feels like yesterday, which is the magic of it.

I was aware of that power and magic back when I was around 17. And I said to myself, "why should I allow these corporations who control the airwaves decide what music is going to remind me of these times? Why shouldn't the music of Beethoven and Bach remind me. So starting in 12th grade I stopped listening to the radio!

I only listened to the classical stations. I wanted to clear my mind of every note of popular music I had ever heard and replace it with the notes of geniuses. I thought that would improve my mind for one thing. I also thought it would raise my consciousness. I don't know if it did either of those things, but it did open up a new world for me. And now I have a hole in my pop radio listening. And that song, "At Seventeen" is in that hole. I heard it here and there, but it made no impression on me at all. I just remember it was kind of sad, like a sad chick song.

Why would I want to listen to some sad chick who learned how to play a dozen or so chords on the guitar, when I could listen to someone who mastered every instrument in the orchestra and wrote masterpieces? That's what I was thinking in those days.

Most of the other kids in Canarsie were still totally into the bands and singers that they found out about through the radio. And here all those years later, the songs of the radio are still in the memories of those programmed by the corporations.

Hey, I did not mean to ruin your memory. I'm just in a weird mood. It seems like the media had only gotten more controlling of the public. They create the reality that most people accept. That's part of why I say, "Thank God for the religious people!" (Pun intended.)

Why support the religious? Because they accept an other reality that was not feed to them by the media. If for no other reason, this is one good thing about religion. Believe it or not, going back to beliefs that are thousands of years old can free the mind from getting totally stuck in the present. Perspective! That's what its all about. Maybe in a way, those memories of Janis Ian, or Janis Joplin, are another way to fight the "tyranny of the present".

Wow! cool quote, if I don't say so myself.
