Von Cello Email List! (vol. 1)
Greetings,
Let me thank you again for signing up for my email list. I just read about one independent artist who has 34,000 people on her list. We are far fewer, but we make up for it in quality!
The most exciting thing that has happened lately is that my CD, Breaking The Sound Barriers, has been entered in the Grammys! (Entering is the first step, before nomination.) It was entered in three categories. The whole CD was entered for Best Classical Crossover Album, and for Best Package. The song, Holes In The Sky,
was entered for Best Arrangement With Vocals. Here is a copy of part of the entry for Best Classical Crossover Album:
------------------------------------------
Artist(s): Von Cello
Complete Recording Title: Breaking The Sound Barriers
Credited Record Label: Orange Dawg Productions
Von Cello is an established Classical artist, who has been accepted into Who's Who In America for the year 2000. Under his given name, Aaron Minsky, he has composed 12 books of original music which are published by Oxford University Press. His music is in the curriculums of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, U.K., and the New York State School Music Association, NYSSMA. His 1999 ASCAP International Distribution Summary showed performances of his music in Britain, Spain, Austria and South Africa. He was also a winner of the ASCAPLUS award from ASCAP for the year 2000. As a Yamaha Artist he has performed on several television networks and at music festivals in many parts of the United States. He also has endorsements with Gallien-Krueger and others. Breaking The Sound Barriers is Von Cello's first solo CD. It is truly a solo performance as Von Cello wrote all of the music (except for one piece by Bach), played every instrument and sang every vocal part. The styles on the CD range from Classical to Classic Rock to Rap to Folk to New Age space music. Every song has a Classical component: they include quotations from the Classical repertoire, or are based on a Classical piece, or the words are about a Classical subject or are from the perspective of a Classical artist. Of course, the fact that an established Classical cellist is performing popular styles, and creating innovative cello sounds, is very much in the realm of Classical crossover. Most important, the CD as a whole can be considered one piece: it is the story of a Classical cellist breaking through the barriers that separate Classical music from Rock. It is a Classical crossover CD about crossing over! Additional information about Von Cello and Breaking The Sound Barriers may be found at the Von Cello website http://www.voncello.com.

Wish me luck! I believe the biggest potential barrier to winnng is publicity. To that end, I spend hours a day on the internet talking it up. I also had my site upgraded and will soon submit it to many seach engines. If anyone on this list has any suggestions for publicity, or would like to help in some way with publicity, please let me know.
Sincerely,
Aaron Von Cello

And now, the thought of the day: "If a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it, did it make a sound?" Or put
another way, "If music is burned onto a CD and no one hears it, is it music?"
